Chewing gum benefits?

Most people don’t view chewing gum as beneficial. As a matter of fact, you’ve probably heard that it is bad for your teeth and health. However, that is not the case because there are three benefits:

1.Chewing Gum Is Good for Your Teeth

When you chew gum, it activates the salivary glands. Saliva is a natural tooth cleanser. You will notice that if you have a dry mouth, your teeth will feel very unclean. But, if you have an abundance of saliva, your teeth will feel much better. Also, chewing gum removes tiny particles of plaque and food from your teeth by acting as an attractant.

2. Chewing Gum Freshens Your Breath

The benefit of this is that you can instantly freshen your breath by chewing gum. If you need a sudden breath freshener, gum should be your first choice. It encourages saliva production, the saliva acts as a cleansing agent, washing away bacteria that causes bad breath.

3. Chewing Gum Burns Calories and Suppresses Your Appetite

It seems everyone is on a collective mission to lose weight and burn more calories. Every movement you make burns calories. It may seem like a small act, but every calorie burned gets you closer to your weight loss goals. Not only will you be burning through calories, but chewing gum will also aid in suppressing your appetite. The motion of chewing tricks the body into thinking it is getting food and can leave you feeling less hungry. So, you get the fulfilling act of putting something in your mouth and chewing, but without the unwanted calories.

Since you’ve probably been told that chewing gum is bad for you since your were a child, it may be difficult to associate it with the benefits it provides. You will want to keep in mind to chew sugar-free gum in order to maximize these benefits and keep your risk of developing cavities down.
